In Death Road (2025), Angelina Jolie returns to the big screen in a gripping, high-octane survival thriller set in a dystopian near-future where collapsed governments have left borderlands lawless and overrun by rogue factions. Jolie plays Seraphine “Sera” Hart, a former black-ops operative turned fugitive, haunted by a botched mission that led to the deaths of innocent civilians. Seeking redemption, she takes on a dangerous contract: escort a mysterious civilian across the infamous stretch of highway known only as Death Road—a desolate, 400-mile route plagued by warlords, smugglers, and mercenaries.
The mission begins with a covert convoy, but chaos erupts when the group is ambushed by drone strikes from an unknown enemy. With vehicles destroyed and communications cut, Sera is forced to lead a handful of survivors on foot through the unforgiving terrain. Among them are a young hacker carrying explosive data, a wounded ex-cop, a mother searching for her abducted son, and a doctor with a hidden past.
As the group treks through ruined outposts, desert warzones, and deadly canyons, they are hunted by the Crimson Pact—a brutal paramilitary faction that will kill to retrieve the intel in the hacker’s possession. With limited resources, internal distrust, and time running out, Sera must draw on every skill she has to keep the group alive. Each decision comes with a cost, and every mile tests their physical and emotional limits.
Jolie delivers a fierce and grounded performance as a woman driven by guilt but fueled by hope, making Death Road not just a relentless action film, but a character-driven story of survival, loyalty, and redemption.
