After decades away from professional golf, Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) is living a quiet life, running a small golf academy with his longtime caddy Otto. His days of outrageous antics and long drives seem to be behind him—until an unexpected challenge pulls him back into the spotlight. The Professional Golf Association (PGA) announces a new tournament: The Legends Open, featuring past champions against rising stars. When Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) makes a surprise return, claiming that Happy’s victory all those years ago was a fluke, Happy can’t resist the challenge.
Meanwhile, Happy’s nephew, a young, talented golfer named Tommy Gilmore (played by an up-and-coming actor), struggles to make a name for himself in the sport. He idolizes his uncle but feels overshadowed by his legacy. With encouragement from Happy’s longtime love interest Virginia Venit (Julie Bowen), Happy decides to train Tommy while preparing for the tournament himself.

The tournament begins with classic Happy Gilmore chaos. Happy’s unorthodox methods clash with the refined skills of the younger players, leading to hilarious and outrageous moments on the course. Shooter, as devious as ever, tries to sabotage Happy by exploiting his weaknesses, including planting an old nemesis—Mr. Larson (Richard Kiel, digitally recreated)—as a surprise course enforcer.
In the final round, it all comes down to a dramatic showdown between Happy, Shooter, and Bryce. In a callback to the original film, he taps the ball in with his signature hockey-style stroke, securing the victory. However, instead of taking all the glory, Happy steps aside and lets Tommy sink the final shot, proving that the next generation is ready to carry on his legacy.
