Plot Summary
Set in the turbulent backdrop of 1970s Hong Kong and the rising political tensions between the East and the West, Ip Man 5 begins as Master Ip, now aging but still spiritually resolute, travels to San Francisco to visit his son. What was supposed to be a peaceful journey becomes a storm of conflict when he discovers that Chinese communities are under threat — not only from local corruption but also from an underground fighting cartel led by a brutal ex-military enforcer, Mason Briggs (Dwayne Johnson).
Caught in the crossfire is Master Lee (Jackie Chan), a former Shaolin monk turned community leader who has tried to protect his people through diplomacy and discipline. When violence erupts in Chinatown and students of Wing Chun are targeted, Ip Man is forced out of retirement to restore honor and order.
But this time, the path to peace isn’t just about fists. It’s about unity, sacrifice, and facing an enemy unlike any before — a man who doesn’t fight with technique, but with sheer destruction.
