Blow 2 (2025) Official Trailer | Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz

Blow 2 picks up where the original left off, following the release of George Jung (Johnny Depp) from prison in 2014 after serving nearly 20 years. Now an older man, George attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Kristina Sunshine Jung, who has grown up resenting him for his criminal past.

However, escaping his past proves impossible. The drug world has changed, but George’s reputation still carries weight. A new generation of smugglers sees him as a legend, and powerful figures want him back in the game—whether he likes it or not. When his old connections resurface, including former cartel associates and Mirtha (Penélope Cruz), George is pulled into one last operation: moving an unprecedented amount of product across the U.S. border.

Desperate to secure his daughter’s future, George partners with a young, ambitious smuggler named Diego (Diego Luna) to outmaneuver the authorities and cartel leaders alike. But betrayal looms at every turn. The DEA, led by a determined agent (Oscar Isaac), is closing in, and George realizes that the world he once dominated has no room for an aging legend.

The film’s climax sees George making one final desperate attempt to break free. However, in a tragic, full-circle moment, he is double-crossed by those closest to him. The film ends with George facing the consequences of his choices, a poignant reflection on a life spent chasing the American Dream—only to lose everything that mattered.

Spending Budget & Release Date

With a projected budget of $70–90 million, the film would invest heavily in period-accurate settings, international locations, and a tense, character-driven narrative. Warner Bros. or Netflix could back the film, aiming for an October 2025 release, capitalizing on awards season.

Success Story & Box Office Potential

Given Johnny Depp’s resurgence and Penélope Cruz’s enduring star power, Blow 2 could be a major hit, with potential earnings of $250–350 million globally. If well-received, it could become one of the year’s most talked-about crime dramas.
